Chinese Football finally bring their View World Tour to North America this October, their first ever visit to the United States and Canada. The tour begins October 9th in Toronto ON, and hits Montreal, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle, ending October 25th in Vancouver BC, for a grand total of 12 performances.
The Wuhan-based indie group has long been at the forefront of the Chinese emo and math rock scene with over a decade of sold-out concerts and several critically-acclaimed albums, including their recently wrapped-up “Game” Trilogy which includes 2023’s Win & Lose, 2019’s Continue?, 2017’s Here Comes A New Challenger!. The group formed in 2011 when Vocalist Xu Bo met guitarist Wang Bo, followed by the additions of bassist Li Lixin in 2012 and drummer Zhen Zili in 2016, solidifying the current lineup.
So far in 2024, Chinese Football have traversed the entirety of China for an eye-popping 40-date tour. In 2023, the band delivered a sold out tour of Europe. In 2019, Chinese Football were special guests on Midwest emo legends American Football’s tour of China, a pairing that got worldwide attention. North America will be a triumphant capstone to a busy year, as Chinese Football celebrates over a decade of music and finally reaches their fans around the world.
Inspired by late 1990s pioneers like Fugazi, Get Up Kids and American Football, Chinese Football specializes in a potent guitar-bass-driven wistful indie rock sound. Their music, characterized by a fusion of simplicity and complexity, narrates tales of passion, fantasy, and disillusionment. Mixing brainwashed guitar riffs with Mandarin lyrics, Chinese Football is devoted to expressing the fantasy of youth and its frustration.
